Thread Veins
Facial Thread Veins These are not broken capillaries but rather permanently dilated capillaries. They have very thin walls, which constantly dilate and constrict. As we age, these vessels lose their elasticity and can become permanently dilated. There are numerous causes including: ageing, hereditary, pregnancy, the rubbing of spectacles, smoking, energetic sports, temperature extremes and harsh weather exposure, hormones and skin fragility. They are commonly seen in a maturing 'English rose' complexion. TREATMENT Facial thread veins can be treated with laser or advanced electrolysis. LASER A consultation and patch test will be performed prior to treatment with treatment lasting from 15 minutes. The laser targets the capillaries and gently treats them with light produced by the laser. Treatment starts from £80. Advanced Electrolysis For advanced electrolysis a consultation and patch test is required prior to treatment, with each treatment lasting from 15 minutes. The tip of a small probe is used with a tiny energy current to remove the blemished area. The treatment itself can be a little uncomfortable but easily tolerated. There are minimal after effects, with a little redness, warmth and scabbing to be expected. The tip of the finest, smallest probe is introduced along the line of the blemish and a tiny energy current is discharged. The current heats up (and coagulates), the tiny capillaries which are then 'starved' of nourishment from the larger vessels resulting in their eventual demise. Treatment with Advanced Electrolysis starts from £50 for 15mins.
