TEOSYAL (dermal fillers)

At The Laser Clinic, we use Teosyal® as our preferred dermal filler.

As we age, our skin changes. Over time, the natural volume of youthful skin begins to diminish as wrinkles and folds form. But, with Teosyal® injectable gel, you don't have to just sit back and let it happen!

Teosyal® is comprised of a non-animal 100% hyaluronic acid-based clear filling gel. Hyaluronic acid is a major component of our skin. Its hydrating, lubricating and viscoelastic properties make the face well rounded, smooth and well defined.

These qualities deteriorate with age: the upper and lower cheeks become sunken, wrinkles appear and the face’s oval shape is lost, affecting its overall harmony.

The hyaluronic acid base of Teosyal is highly biocompatible yet slowly absorbed and compensates well for this loss.

What to Expect During Treatment?

Carol, who is the Director at The Laser Clinic has had many years experience in using dermal fillers having qualified initially using Restylane in 2004. Carol has built a strong reputation and has a loyal following with clients returning for repeat treatments again and again!

Because Teosyal® injectable gel is a simple, nonsurgical wrinkle treatment, there is minimal recovery or downtime.

What to expect when you visit The Laser Clinic for treatment.

When you arrive: If this is your first visit, Carol, who is a Registered Nurse (and is a very experienced injector), will ask about your medical history, including any allergies you may have or medications you may take, and will tell you more about wrinkle treatment with Teosyal®. Teosyal® injectable gel does not require an allergy test.

Determining your treatment needs:

Carol will examine the soft tissue of your face to assess the depth of wrinkles and folds to determine your treatment. Teosyal® injectable gel is available in different formulations— for versatility in contouring and volumizing facial wrinkles and folds, and for volumizing and correcting deeper folds and wrinkles. This allows Carol to better tailor treatment to your unique needs. She may even take pre-treatment photographs so you can see the difference after treatment!

Before the procedure:

Although anesthesia is not required, Carol may use topical or injectable anesthesia to numb the treatment area first.

Teosyal is made from a cross linked hyaluronic acid similar to the body's own natural collagen. It is non animal in origin and does not require a patch test.
The hyaluronic acid is eventually broken down over the months leaving no trace of the filler.
The gel is injected into the skin with a very fine needle, it plumps out the skin; filling lines, and deeper folds.

The latest Teosyal® Hyaluronic Acid gels are extremely pure, monophasic and homogeneous, and therefore are less vulnerable to free radical degradation. The painless hyaluronic acid injections* use a formula including a local anaesthetic which is recognised worldwide in medicine and surgery: lidocaine.

*Multicentre study France 2010 carried out on 32 patients by Drs Trevidic and Claude, specialists in Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery. 9/10 patients found the injection significantly less painful than an injection not containing lidocaine. The study also found than 99% of patients who were injected with PurseSense were willing to be injected again.

Offered with a glass syringe and made from non-animal biodegradable gels, the complete PureSense product range have a greater volume creating ability and can last up to 18 months.

Individuals with a known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid.

Duration of effect

This depends upon the degree of correction required, your age and lifestyle as well as the correct placement of the product by a practitioner.

Trials indicate that the majority of the Teosyal® range is effective for an average of 6 to 9 months for the treatment of wrinkles.

An independent study managed by S.J. Falcone et al, and published in Dematological Surgery (2009), shows that Teosyal® Ultra Deep is the longest lasting filler on the market, among 18 commercialized dermal fillers. The study found that Teosyal® Ultra Deep came number 1 in the prediction of persistence for polysaccharide dermal fillers based on the filler formulation concentration and elasticity as measured according to the tan (0.149 for Ultra Deep) Fillers with higher concentration and higher elasticity are predicted to be more persistent and effective. This information was declared as the results of an independent study and not sponsered by Teoxane.

Teosyal® Kiss is manufactured in such as way as to obtain a longer-lasting effect - averaging 9 to 12 months, Teosyal® Ultra Deep is said to last 12 months on average, with Teosyal® Ultimate quoted as a 12 to 18 month average duration; these are according to the manufacturers.

Reported side effects

Transient erythema (redness), swelling, possible discomfort at the implant site, this usually resolves in a few days. Any persistent reaction must be reported to your practitioner.

Costs

This depends on area treated, the specific product used and how much is required,but ranges are in the region of: £200 to £400 per treatment.

Teosyal® Ultimate will cost approximately £600 per 3ml syringe.
